House at Ullal burgled ; jewellery, cash stolen

Mangaluru, Nov 01, 2018: Thieves who broke into a house  at Ambika Road  area in Ullal  late night on October 31, Wednesday have decamped  with cash and valuables.

 

The theft occurred in the house of Naveen Gatti of Nirmala Layout. It is learnt Naveen, his wife Usha and son Chirag were sleeping in one room while  Usha’s mother Vimala was in another room. Sources said the doors of both the rooms were open. The thieves gained entry into the house by  opening the latch of the rear door taking advantage of an open window.

 The thieves who entered the room where Naveen was sleeping  stole   Usha’s mangalasutra weighing 6 sovereigns, another chain weighing three sovereigns as well as cash found in the purse.

Usha is an employee of Wenlock Hospital. As she had attended a function during the day, she had kept the jewellery on the table which were easily stolen by the burglars. The thieves however had left the imitation jewellery untouched.

Investigations are underway.
