Mangalore, Feb 22: The Holy Cross, which began its round of the Mangalore Diocese, at Rosario Cathedral, was first taken to Holy Cross Church Kulshekar, after which it was handed over to the Shaktinagar Parish and later to the Bondel Parish. The Holy Cross is being taken to various parishes of the diocese in commemoration of its 125th anniversary.

On Feb 17, the parishioners of Bondel gave the cross to the parishioners of Vamanjoor, where it was worshipped for two days. On Feb 19, it was carried in a procession to Paldane Parish.


The Vamanjoor Parish was represented by Fr. Joseph Cardoza, the parish priest of Vamanjoor St. Joseph the Worker Church; Jesudas D’Costa, the assistant parish priest; Roshan Menezes, the vice president of the parish council; Benny D’Cunha, the secretary of the parish council; and others. The Paldane Parish was represented by Fr. Gregory William Vas, the parish priest; Fr. Anil Monteiro, the vice president of the parish council; Secretary Cecilia D’Silva and other members of the parish council. A large number of parishioners from both parishes participated in this procession.


After worshipping the Holy Cross for 2 days, the Paldane Parish carried it in a procession to Kelarai Church on Feb 21, Monday. The cross was ceremoniously handed over to Fr. John Vas, the parish priest of Kelrai Church.
