Hindu organisations root for Ramanath Rai’s resignation

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, Nov 9, 2014: Leaders of Hindu organisations, allege that the State government is suppressing  Hindu organisations by imposing Goonda Act and other unnecessary means on Hindu youth and protecting culprits belonging to a minority community. During a protest here at Clock Tower Junction, they demanded that District-inCharge Minister B Ramanath Rai should resign and City Police Commissioner R Hithendra should be transferred.

Hindu Jagarana vedike protest

Addressing the protesters, VHP District Working President Prof M B Puranik said that after coming to power, the Congress government always tried to restrain Hindu community by lifting ban on cow slaughtering, organising tours for schoolchildren under caste basis and implanting ‘Shadibhagya’ scheme only for Muslim women. Through Ahinda, the government is splitting society.

Going a step ahead, now the government is targetting Hindu organisation members and started imposing Goonda Act on them without serving a notice. “Now, about 35 Hindu organisation members have come down to streets. We don’t have any intention of creating communal tension or harm the peace in society. But, the government should stop appeasing minorities and targeting Hindu youth,” he warned.

Referring to Minister Ramanath Rai’s statement that police should arrest not only culprits, but also those who lend them a voice, Hindu Jagarana Vedike State Co-Convenor Sathyajit Surathkal said that the direction of the Minister should be followed and Ramanath Rai himself and MLA Mohiuddin Bava should be arrested first for arguing for culprits.

The police who impose Goonda Act against those who try to stop illegal cattle transportation, should have imposed the Act against Rashid Malbari, an underworld don who was in Mangalore for two years. Police didn’t file case under Goonda Act against Madoor Yusub who has underworld link.

In Deralakatte rape incident, culprits had raped the girl, police arrested the culprits after the public pressure, but the culprits were produced before the court within 24 hours. A minister himself took care of the culprits in the case and police didn’t dare to touch them. What happened to the accused who attacked SI Bharati? Law is equal for everyone. If government continues with its policy of targeting Hindu youth, it may have to pay for that, he warned.

MLC Monappa Bhandary demanded the State government to order CBI probe into Nanditha murder case. Instead of performing its duties the government is busy in blaming BJP and media. In DK some  police officers are acting like agents of Congress government, he said.   Hindu leaders Jagadish Shenava, Sharan Pumpwell, Kishor Kumar, Bhujanga Kulal, Ravishankar Mijar were preset among others.
