Mangalore, April 15, 2014  : State Health and Family Welfare Minister UT Khader who also happens to be representing Mangalore (Ullal ) constituency has been successful in persuading residents of Kodi, Kotepura and Mogaveerapatna to exercise  their franchise in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

 	kadar press me...

The residents had earlier threatened to boycott the elections in protest against the arrest of innocents in connection with the recent clashes in  Ullal and the apathy of the political parties towards their demand to ensure that the innocents were freed. Speaking to reporters in the city on April 14, Tuesday, Abdul Rehman, President of  a Committee of residents of the area, said in the presence of Minister UT Khader that they had decided to withdraw their poll boycott decision following an assurance given by Khader. He said the committee would continue to pressurise the government through local elected representatives to release innocents.

Rehman said of the 69 persons arrested, 47 are from Kodi area and their only demand was to release those who are innocents.

Khader who also spoke on the occasion, said following his intervention the committee decided to find alternate options to pressurise the government to fulfil its demand. Khader also assured to discuss the issue with Home Minister.

Several residents of Ullal Kodi were present.
