Mangaluru, May 29, 2018:  Heavy rains   are lashing the city and various parts of the district since Tuesday morning.  There has been water logging at several areas thereby causing a lot of inconvenience to pedestrians and motorists alike.

Rain water is seen royally flowing right on the road in the absence of side drains at some places and  also due to accumulation of silt in the existing drains.

Roads have turned into veritable   pools  right in front of the MCC  office at Lalbagh, at Kapikad, Nantur, Attavar, Balmatta and   under Padil railway overbridge. The situation is no different on the KS Rao Road and several other places.

In Urva Hoige Bazar drain waters have gushed into several houses. In Kulai too water has entered some houses and a shop.

In Kudroli, water gushed into some roadside shops. Several business establishments have incurred a huge loss as shops were flooded with rain water inundating goods and articles. Several shops including Arnav Traders, Madhuban Graphis, Mahalasa Hardware, Deepa Associates, Mangalore Health care in the area affected as the water entered inside the shops.


Smooth movement of vehicular traffic is also affected on the NH 66 at Pumpwell and Thokkottu due to the  digging of trenches at several places for the flyover works. Buses could not proceed  towards State Bank and Kankanady from Pumpwell area causing a lot of inconvenience to the general public.
