Mangaluru, June 11, 2017: The heavy rains that have been lashing various parts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts have caused much damage to property at various places.
In Udupi, a huge tree uprooted at Kunjibettu and damaged a grocery shop and a Nagabana. The shop owner Rehman Saab has said the shop has suffered damage to the extent of a few lakhs of rupees.
The tree collapse also damaged several electrical lines disrupting power connection.
The National Highway 66 near the Karavali bypass in Udupi is in a sorry state and numerous potholes have appeared. Following complaints by public District in-charge Minister has initiated measures to fill the potholes.
Water logging has been reported at several places across the stretch of road from BC Road to Kundapur due to incomplete works.
