Since it rained continuously in Uppinangady from the night of Thursday, the Gundya River swelled and completely submerged the Hosmata Bridge, owing to which vehicles could no longer move along the Uppinangady to Kabada to Subramanya road. Last morning, the water on the bridge was 3ft deep and by evening, it had become 6ft deep. Vehicles were forced to use another route to reach Subrahmanya.

Owing to the Gundya River flood, arecanut plantations in Kutruppady, Valya, Hosmata, and Ulipu were submerged and so was the national highway at Udane. The water on the highway was nearly 4ft deep from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 a.m.

Landslides took place at around 10 locations along the Bangalore to Mangalore national highway, affecting traffic on the Shirady Ghat stretch. Earthmovers had to be used to clear the road at the earliest.

Owing to the heavy rains, River Nethravathi and River Kumaradhara are also overflowing. The level of water in River Nethravathi has reached danger level at several places, and Bajathoor, Valalu, Kootelu, and other villages along the banks of this river are submerged in water.
