Hearing in Manipal gang rape case adjourned to Oct 1.

Udupi: September 16, 2015: The district and sessions court  adjourned the hearing in the Manipal gang rape case to October 1.

TS Jituri, public prosecutor, told sources hat counter argument was heard by Shivshanker B Amaranavar, the district sessions judge on Tuesday. The judge said further argument and counter arguments will be heard on October 1.

A medical student of Manipal University was abducted by three persons from the college library and was gang-raped on June 20, 2013. The accused, Yogesh Poojary, Hariprasad Poojary and Anand, were arrested on June 27.

They were charged under sections 366, 376D, 506 read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

Police also arrested Balachandra, brother of Yogesh, and Harindra, brother of Hariprasad, on charges of trying to destroy evidence. They were later released on bail.
