Udupi, Oct 9, 2015: According to the Udupi town police, Head Constable Santosh (39) working with the District Crime Intelligence Bureau (DCIB), in an attempt to nab an offender in a ganja peddling case, suddenly developed chest pain and suffered cardiac arrest.
He was rushed to the New City Hospital here, where he died in the line of duty.
A case had been registered at the Udupi Town Police Station and investigations were on, the police said.
Santosh is survived by his wife and an eight-year-old daughter.
Superintendent of Police K. Annamalai, who visited the family and paid his condolences, told media that the cremation would take place here on Oct 9 or 10, as Santosh’s wife, who had gone to Mumbai is expected to return immediately.
