Hasiru Hore Kanike marks beginning of Kankanady Garody festival

Mangalore, Nov 30: The renowned Brahma Baidarkala Garody festival, which includes the consecration of idols in the temple’s new sanctum sanctorum, commenced with the “Hasiru Hore Kanike” (offerings of vegetables, food grains, and fruits), on Nov 29, Sunday. During this festive occasion, the newly renovated temple premises were formally given to the temple committee.

The Hasiru Hore Kanike was brought in a grand procession of 50 loaded vehicles. The procession commenced at Lord Gokarnanatha Temple, Kudroli, and passed through Mannagudda, Lady Hill, Ballal Bagh, Kodialbail, Bunts Hostel, Jyothi Circle, and Bendorewell before ending at the Garody. K Chittaranjan, the president of the temple committee, as well as innumerable devotees, welcomed the procession. This was followed by Vedic ceremonies at night.

 

 

On Nov 30, Monday, a Maha Sudarshana Yaaga, a Durga Namaskara, and a Mantapa Samkara will be organized after 6 p.m. A religious meeting will also be organized to which MLA N Yogish Bhat, Mayor Shankar Bhat, Deputy Commissioner V Ponnuraj, and other dignitaries have been invited. 

Ranga Sudharshan of Sasihithlu will stage a wide variety of entertainment and dance programmes after 5:30 p.m.
