Habitual offender trapped at Mangaluru Central by RPF

Mangaluru, Feb 9, 2017: Personnel of Railway Protection Force crime squad and Railway Police in a joint operation nabbed a habitual offender at Mangaluru Central Railway station.


RPF The accused, Siraj, alias Sirajuddin, resident of Calicut had decamped with a cell phone of an army officer from the waiting room of the railway station.

Based on CCTV footage, the crime squad personnel nabbed the accused and recovered the cell phone and two other mobiles stolen by him, from his possession.

In another case it is reported that the RPF, Railway Police Force personnel, attached to Konkan Railways’ Karwar Station, recently seized 262 bottles of unclaimed liquor being transported by a train from Goa to Karnataka.  The personnel had launched a special drive and during an inspection of train No. 56641, Madgaon-Mangaluru Central Passenger, they found the unclaimed liquor bottles.


The liquor seized was worth Rs. 17,000, the release said. The seized bottles were handed over to the State Excise Department, the release added.
