Mangaluru, Jan 10, 2020: JD(S) leader and former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy has released a CD containing 35 video clips pertaining to the December 19 anti-CAB protest in Mangaluru which had turned violent resulting in police firing that claimed two lives.
Releasing the video at the JD(S) office at Bengaluru, Kumaraswamy said there would have been no untoward incident had the police acted in the right way and had the government done nothing wrong.
He accused the state government of trying to transform Mangaluru into another Kashmir and blamed City Police Commissioner P S Harsha for the incident and demanded that Harsha be immediately suspended from service.
Referring to the magisterial enquiry underway under the leadership of Udupi Deputy Commissioner Jagadeesha, Kumaraswamy said the report will be out as per the wish of the government.
He also questioned the Mangaluru police for not co-operating with the Citizens’ Tribunal which had arrived in the city to probe the incident and prepare a report.
