The other guests were Smt Punamben Jat, Shri Govindbhai Patel, Shri Kantibhai Lakum, Smt Gitaben Patel, Smt Jyotsanaben Patel, Shri Upendrasinh Gohil, Shri Dusyantbhai Patel, S. However, he reminded the Gujarthi Mangaloreans that their roots are in Gujarath. Since Mangalore has 5 medical colleges, most of the Gujarathi students are studying medicine in Mangalore, he pointed out, adding that the number of students who have remained in Gujarath is very low. He also appreciated Gujarathis for their whole-hearted participation in social programmes.  He said that if Gujarathis take required steps to save electricity and water and participate in the clean city campaigns, the country will progress.

The Gujarathi Mahajan Association established the Gujarathi Mahajan School, which teaches Gujarathi to students. It was also the first institution in coastal Karnataka to opt for Smart Class by Educomp, which incorporates computerized teaching using aids such as animations, 3D images, video clips, as well as routine classroom lectures. The Gujarathi community in Mangalore has also constructed notable temples such as Shree Jalaram Mandir, Shree Umadham, Shree Balkrishnalalji ki Haveli, and Jain Derasar.
