Mangaluru, Sep 18,2017: Arrangements for the historic and world famous Mangaluru Dasara-2017 celebrations of Shree Gokarnanatha Temple at Kudroli in Mangaluru are in full swing and the celebrations will be held from September 21 to September 30.
Informing this to reporters here on September 18, Monday, former union minister and senior leader of the Billawa community who was instrumental in the renovation of the shrine, B Janardhana Poojary said the festivities would commence on September 21 with the installation of the idols of Goddess Sharada and Navadurgis at 12.20 pm. Various relgiious and cultural programmes will be held at the shrine throughout the Dasara festivities, he said adding the festivities will conclude on September 30 with a colourful Shobhayatra carrying the idols of Goddess Sharada, Mahaganapathi and Navadurgis with the accompaniment of innumerous tableaux of grandeur apart from cultural troupes.
The procession beginning from the shrine will pass through Ladyhill, Lalbagh, Ballalbagh Kodialbail, Hampankatta, MG Road, Carstreet, Chitra Talkies and Alake before culminating in the shrine during the wee hours of October 1.
Temple Committee President Sairam, office bearers Padmaraj Karkera, Harikrishna Bantwal and others were present.
Magluru dasara is similar to that of Mysuru, but the credit goes to Shree Gokarantheswara temple in Kudroli.
