Mangaluru, 18 April 2015: The state cabinet has approved district administrative complex for Dakshina Kannada district at the cost of Rs.41 crore pooling funds from others departments.

“The government had suggested limiting the cost of construction of building complex from Rs. 25 to Rs. 30 lakh, whereas we planned for Rs. 45 crore. Finally, the cabinet meeting held on 17 April 2015 approved the project at cost of Rs.41 Cr’’ B.Ramanatha Rai, district incharge minister told to www.mangaloretoday.com. 

Ramanatha Rai has thanked Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on behalf of people of the district for his support and generosity in sanctioning the project.

In addition to government grant of Rs.30 core for the complex a total of Rs.11crore will be pooled from departments like Health and Family welfare (7cr), Labour Department (3 cr) and Minor Irrigation (1cr), which were sanctioned for construction of new district office buildings for respective departments.

District administration had earlier entrusted the work of preparation of building design to a city based private architect who prepared a plan for Rs.60 crore. But, Ramanatha Rai rejected the design asked to redesign the plan. Even after that design was for Rs. 45 core which was 50 percent more than that of Rs.30 crore grant assured by the government.

The district in-charge minister has assured that the tendering processes will commence soon and work will be finished in record time two years. The new DC office will come up in Padil in Alape village in the outskirt out the city towards on the east side in spacious 5.89 acre land.

The work is entrusted to Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of Karnataka Housing Board, Mangalore and he will prepare detailed project report for execution of the project at the cost of Rs. 41 crore.
