Mangalore, April 1, 2011: Gold ornaments weighing 600grams stolen in a major house-breaking incident at K C Road, on Thursday, March 31.
Ullal police is investigating the case. A police official said that the incident has occurred on Thursday night at around 12 pm. Sub -Inspector Manjunath said that the house belongs to Ibrahim, working in Qatar. He had come to Mangalore to participate in a marriage function.
About 21 people stayed at Ibrahim’s home overnight on Thursday. Even as so many people were sleeping, the thieves could take away gold ornaments weighing about 75 sovereigns.
Mr. Manjunath said the thieves had taken away intricately carved gold ornaments studded with precious stones which were kept open in one of the cupboard. The thieves entered the house by removing one of the planks from the back door. They broke open the cupboard and took away gold jewellery weighing 600gms . The family members were asleep at the time of theft, he added.
He informed that the investigation is on. They are trying to collect basic information and also finger prints besides pressing the sniffer dogs into service.
