Mangaluru, Apr 22, 2019: Inaugurating a comprehensive health check camp in Mangaluru District Jail, Principal District and Sessions Judge Kadloor Sathyanarayacharya on April 21, Sunday asked inmates to make use of the opportunity to become fit and face challenges after their release.
He greatly appreciated the health camp for the jail inmates and said that the prison was not a place of punishment but one for reformation. The prison is a serious opportunity for the inmate to rectify their faults and get on to lead a productive and exemplary life in the future.
The camp was jointly organised by the Indian Red Cross’ Dakshina Kannada unit, the District Prison, the Government Wenlock Hospital, the District Health Department and K.S. Hegde Medical Academy.
Indian Red Cross Dakshina Kannada unit president Shantaram Shetty said that he will install a drinking water dispensing unit in the prison.
District Health and Family Welfare Officer M. Ramakrishna Rao and Vice-Chancellor of NITTE Deemed to be University Satheesh Kumar Bhandary also spoke.
