Mangaluru, Mar 21, 2015: Briefing the media , Yaga Committee working president K Monappa Bhandary said that Chaturveda Samhitha Yaga and Gayatri Ghrutha Samprapthi Yaga will be held in Sri Nityananda Yogashrama in Kondevoor in Uppala, Kasargod from March 21 to 29. Also a National Ayurveda conference ’Nithyaayu-2015’ will be held on March 22 and Mathru Samavesha will be held on March 24. Gayatri Ghrutha Samprapthi Yaga was recommended by Sage Agasthya.
The yaga has not been held for centuries perhaps. Last it was performed in Marutwamale in Tamil Nadu, under the guidance of Sri Prabhakara Siddayogi. The ghee prepared during the ritual is said to ward off many diseases and the ritual is performed with great reverence and care. The ritual will be for seven days, he said and added that the Chaturveda Samhitha Yaga will be held in the sacrificial platforms installed in the four directions at the yaga venue.
Briefing on the salient features of the yagas, he said the cow, worshiped during the yaga, is the one with proportionate and equal sized horns, with the mark of conch on forehead, of white coloured with the tip of its tail black coloured and having given birth to a single calf. Juices of 24 herbs grown in different parts of the country, betel leaves, cow dung, cow urine, pure ghee etc will be used for the preparation of special ghrutha or ghee during Gayatri Ghrutha Samprapthi Yaga.
He said Manila Sri Dhama Mutt pontiff Sri Mohandas Swamiji, Sri Yogananda Saraswathi Swamiji of Nityananda Yogashrama, Kateel temple priests Kamaladeviprasad Asranna and Ananthapadmanabha Asranna will initiate the yaga. Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Udupi Pejavar mutt seer Sri Vishweshatheertha Swamiji and others will take part, he said.
Ayurveda : Nithyaayu Ayurveda conference convener Dr Ashajyothi Rai said that the conference will be inaugurated on March 22 at 10 pm by Union Minister for Ayush Sripada Nayak. Manjeshwara MLA Abdu Razak will preside, Minister for Health U T Khader will be the guest of honour, Alva’s Education Foundation Chairman Dr Mohan Alva and Karnataka State Ayurveda and Unani practitioner’s board Chairman Dr Sathyamurthy Bhat will be the chief guests, he said.
It was stated that a scientific session will be held on the occasion, wherein NRHM State Programme officer Dr L N Shenoy, Gorakhnath Swami of Agasthya Siddha Vaidya Ashram and Panikar Ayurveda College, Kanhangad, Principal Dr Muralidhar Attavara will take part. A panel discussion will also be held. Valedictory function will be held on the same day at 5 pm. Mangalpadi Panchayat president Ayeesha Thaheera, Karnataka government Ayush department Director Vijayakumar Gogi, and Kerala State Ayurveda Board Chairman Dr Shivadas will take part.
