Nelyadi, May 26, 2017 : A gas laden tanker proceeding from Mangaluru, overturned after colliding head-on with a tipper at Enjira- Lavatadka on the National Highway here on May 25, Thursday. Luckily there was no gas leakage. Three persons including the driver of the tipper sustained injuries and have been admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru.
The tipper was returning from Gundya after some road patch works. It is said the driver of the approaching tanker lost control over his vehicle resulting in the mishap. The Quick Response Vehicle as well as the Dharmasthala Police rushed to the spot and took necessary steps to clear the road for traffic.
The injured have been identified as driver Mustaq (30), Sarfaroz(26) and Siddique (35). As there have been frequent mishaps while negotiating a curve at Lavatadka, locals have demanded erecting of a speed breaker here.
