Gangolli : Man attempts self-immolation in temple

Gangolli, Sep 17, 2020:    In a shocking case a man tried to kill himself by setting himself afire after pouring petrol at a temple behind the Shree Mahakali temple of  Gangolli on September 17, Thursday afternoon. Two others who rushed to the rescue of the man also suffered burn injuries.

 

The man who attempted self-immolation is  Raghavendra Kharvi (35) of Gangolli Darahitlu. The injured are  Janardhan Kharvi and Lakshman Kharvi. All the three have been rushed to Manipal Hospital in the Apathbandhava ambulance.

 Special Pooja was being held at the temple on the occasion of Mahalaya Amavasya.  Raghavendra  who entered the temple all of a sudden  poured  petrol on himself and set himself afire using the diya lighted in the temple. He is a welder by profession. The reason behind his extreme step is not known.

 Gangolli police are investigating the case.
