Gang war results in 2 murders at Farangipete ; 3 seriously injured

Mangaluru, Sep 26, 2017: Two persons were killed and three others sustained injuries in a gang war at Farangipete on September 25, Monday night. The injured have been admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru.

The deceased are Riyaz alias Ziya of Adyarkatte and Fayaz alias Payya of Adyar Birpugudde. The incident took place when the two along with Mushtaq, Fazal, Anis and Azmaan were on way to BC Road from Adyar in their Swift car. As their car was passing through  Farangipete and was close by the Police outpost there, another team waylaid the car and attacked them with lethal weapons. If Fayaz died on the spot, Riyaz succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. The other three persons in the car are critically injured and are undergoing treatment at the ICU. Meanwhile Azmaan managed to escape.

It is said there were a total of  six assailants who fled by an Innova car. Bantwal Rural Police are investigating the case.

Previous enmity- the reason ?

Bantwal Police suspect a previous enmity as the reason behind the attack. Five years ago, in the year 2012, Kannur Putta, a person of the Zia gang was  murdered and Ijaz Kannur was the accused in this case. On October 31, 2014, Ijaz  was hacked to death by a gang which  barged into a saloon  at Kannur. Ziya Adyar and several members of this gang were  arrested in this case. Now  Zia himself has fallen victim to gang war.

SP Sudheer Kumar Reddy and senior police officials rushed to the scene of the crime and are supervising the investigations. Police have launched a manhunt for the killers.
