Mangaluru, April 10, 2020:   The Commissioner of Central GST & Central Excise Imamuddin Ahmad accompanied by officers of Mangalore Central GST Commissionerate, Customs, DRI, DGGI, Audit, SEZ and the retired officers of CBIC from Mangalore, under the aegis of Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs, Karnataka COVID 19 group came together, on 10th April, 2020 to provide the Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to the health care providers of Mangalore Wenlock Hospital amid the nationwide lockdown due to COVID 19 outbreak, as part of their social responsibility.

The Commissioner has underlined that the nation is reeling with the outbreak of COVID-19 and thanked all the medical professionals whose relentless work is saving millions of lives.

The officers, under the guidance and active involvement of Baswaraj Nalegave, Commissioner of Customs and Imamuddin Ahmad, Commissioner of Central Excise & Central Tax aggregated the voluntary donations from all officers to the tune of Rs. 4.5 lakhs till date with which various activities beneficial to the society such as Dry ration kit distribution to the poor people and donation of PPEs and medical safety gear to the health care frontline fighters are being carried out. As a token of gratitude for the service being rendered, the Commissioner of Central GST has handed over 200 PPEs to Wenlock District Hospital Authorities.
