Mangalore, Oct 28, 2011: The Gram Panchayat Noukarara Sangha will organize a 24-hour protest in front of the Zilla Panchayat office from Nov 3 Thursday 10:00 a.m. to Nov 4 Friday 10:00 a.m.

Speaking at a press conference held today, GP Noukarara Sangha President K. Yadav Shetty said that the organization has succeeded in convincing the state government to provide minimum wages, future fund, dearness allowance, Janashri insurance policy, and other benefits to the workers, in spite of which around 2000 GP workers of DK are not getting all the facilities.

Revealing further details, he said that the organization has complained in writing to the assistant labour commissioner about the non availability of several facilities to the workers. The 24-hour protest will be held to bring the attention of those concerned to this fact and to urge the government to provide facilities to these workers.

The association will demand the provision of dearness allowance, which is pending for the past 3 years, implementation of Janashri insurance scheme, 50 percent reservation for GP workers for posts such as assistant accountant, and others.

General Secretary Jayaram Master, Sanjay Prabhu, Ramappa Poojary, and others were also present at the press conference.
