The agitators, who were displaced in phases by the airport over a period of 10 years, have allegedly not got full compensation by the Government yet. Their lands had been acquired for the airport on behalf of the Airports Authority of India (AAI).. These protestors were displaced by the airport and have not yet been compensated. Their lands were acquired on behalf of the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

The CM’s convoy stopped briefly in front of the protestors, and the CM listened to their tales of woe. However, District Convener of the Karnataka Dalit Sangharsh Samithi, which staged this protest, said that the CM left without making any promises.

The AAI had displaced 280 families, whose lands were acquired for a meagre Rs 250 per cent back in the 90s. A memorandum submitted to the CM stated that 75 families were given controversial sites as compensation. The families could not register these sites in their name because they already belonged to somebody else. The protestors also said that that 10 Dalit houses in the Bonkuri area were totally cut off from the rest of the world by the wall of the building. A solution to this issue has still not been found.

M. Veerappa Moily, the union law minister, asked the CM to find solutions to the problems of the displaced people.
