Freedom fighters felicitated on Barrister Yellappa’s birth anniversary

Mangalore, May 6, 2012: The 100th birth anniversary of Barrister Attavar Yellappa, a freedom fighter associated with Nethaji Subhashchandra Bose, was celebrated on May 5 Saturday in Town Hall, during which a few freedom fighters were felicitated. 


RSS leader Dr. Prabhakar Bhat Kalladka lit the lamp and inaugurated the event.

Delivering the inaugural address, Dr. Prabhakar Bhat said that no freedom fighter desired fame, but sacrificed a lot for the country’s freedom. While most people live for their families, few people like Barrister Yellappa live for their countries, he added. 


Further, he said that everybody in India, irrespective of caste, religion, race, or creed, is an Indian. If people follow in the footsteps of Yellappa, the country should be the most powerful country by 2020. 


Dr. Ammembal Balappa, Damodar Uchila, Karunakar Uchila, Hemanth Ullal, Sheshappa Ullal, Krishna Shetty Someshwar, and Aithappa Shettigar were felicitated on this occasion.


Prof. M. B. Puranik, Fr. Xavier Gomes, the principal of Milagres College, MLA U. T. Khader, M. Vishwanath, the member of the Wenlock Hospial advisory committee; Vaman S. S., an entrepreneur from Mumbai, Ivan D’Souza, Bhaskar Devasya, the MD of the Niddodi Jnanarathna Education Trust, Dr. Sujay Prabhakar of Nethaji Yellappa Hospital, and Sonda Bhaskar Shetty, the HOD of Sanskrit at Kateel College, were also present.
