Fr.Julius Rasquinha ordained Salesian Priest in Goa

Goa, Dec.27: A decendant of Mangalorean roots and brought up in Goa; Fr.Julius Rasquinha,SDB [a well qualified Engineer] was ordained a Salesian of Don Bosco, priest at Don Bosco Tech.Institute Church,Fatorda Goa on 19.December 2009. The solemn meaningful liturgy was led by Archbishop and Patriarch of Goa Daman and Diu-Most Rev.Philip Neri Ferrao and attended by a large gathering of Clergy, Family, local congregation, relatives and friends and was an occasion of great joy!

 


As per publications of a famous geneaologist of the Mangalorean catholic community world wide; Fr.Julius is the grand son of Gilbert Patrick Rasquinha (1899-1971), who is known to have managed the Caltex Petrol Pump at Hampankatta in early times and who hailed from a well known family.Also he is the grand nephew of late Rev.Fr.Lawrence F.Rasquinha SJ, Principal of St Aloysius College Mangalore from 1966 and Rector from 1974.Fr.julius mother hails from a ’Peris-Bhat’ family of Attavar/Jeppu well known achievers.
 

 

 



Julius S. Rasquinha was born on 18th of January 1971 at Margao to Alfred and Mary(Joan) who were settled there.  He finished his schooling from Loyola High School,  Margao, Goa and passed his S.S.C.E. in 1986.  He went on to complete his B.E. in Electronics and Telecommunications from Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi, Goa, in 1992.  He worked as an engineer till 1998.  He joined Dominic Savio High School, Andheri, Mumbai, to discern his vocation.  He started his pre- novitiate in 1999.  He made his first profession on 24th May 2001.  He began his studies in Theology in 2006 in Pune.  He made his perpetual profession on 24th May 2008.  He received the order of Diaconate in February 2009. 




Asked how he looks at his vocation in the context of his back-ground he simply smiles and briefly quotes the words of Jesus Christ from the Bible, "My grace is sufficient for you"(2.cor.12:9). He says his superiors and colleagues go along with the words ’Not that I am greater........but,that GOD has set his sight on me’. His predisposition edifies one and all and points towards a great service to God and man, in the traditions well known!
