Padubidri, Nov 18, 2019: State minister for Fisheries and Ports Kota Srinivasa Poojary has said that the foundation for the Hejamady all weather port will be laid in the second week of January.
He was speaking after visiting the project site on November 17, Sunday along with officials. The Minister said a high level meeting will be held in Bengaluru within a week with the objective of clearing the land acquisition hurdles.
The Minister said of the land required for the project 12 acre is with the Fisheries Department while government has already handed over 9.41 acres land. Meanwhile six acre land required for breakwater is in private hands, he said.
The Minister said the Revenue Department officials have been asked to complete the land acquisition process within 15 days.
The estimated cost of the project which was Rs 138.06 crores has shot up to Rs 167 crores due to the delay in implementation, he informed.
Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon, Fisheries Department officer Rashmi Mahesh, Fisheries Director Ramakrishna and others were present.
