Former president calls to prove corruption in Beary academy

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, Aug 05, 2015:  Addressing the media Aug 4, Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy former president Rahim Uchil challenged Beary Kala Ranga president Azees Baikampady and others to prove  misappropriation by him, within a week and with valid documents or face defamation cases.

Rahim UchilUchil said that all allegations made by Azees Baikampady and others were far from truth. B A Mohammed Haneef showed special interest about corruption allegations made against me. Though he formed a sub-committee to dig all possible documents to prove the charges, the committee could not give a report even after six months. The committee report should be made public.

It was alleged that three awards were conferred during my seven months of tenure. In fact, three awards were given including one pending award and an award of that particular year (after April) was also conferred. Everything was decided in the presence of joint director and other officials. No misappropriation was done in the payment for art troupes as well and auditors have endorsed it.  Personal grudges are the cause to harassing mentally and physically. It was demanded that Uchil  pay back the treatment costs without considerations.

Rahim Uchil alleged that the academy has neglected senior litterateurs of the language and conferred awards to one who published a single audio cassette with eight songs. Academy programmes which should be given to Beary or Kannada artists are being given to Malayalis. Major projects of the academy- Beary Bhavan, dictionary and Beary language Chair in Mangalore University have been neglected.
