Former drug addict’s father speaks out; blames ex-mayor’s son

Mangalore, Feb 6, 2013:Drugs mafia is hogging the limelight in Mangalore ever since the suicide of 17 year old Sneha who was addicted to drugs. In a latest development, the father of another drug victim, who however has  luckily recovered and is free from addiction, has now come out in the open to narrate his daughter’s travails.

 

                                                                          

 

Arjun, father of Ashwini Kulal who was once severely addicted to drugs but is now normal and is pursuing her studies, has blamed the negligence of the district administration as well as the police department for the suicide of Sneha.

He explained how drug peddlers use whitener or other intoxicants inside pizza, chocolate and other eateries and give  it to young girls who eventually get addicted to it.

Narrating the turmoil which his daughter had underwent, Arjun  said “ Former mayor Ashraf’s son Araf used to send chocolates and pizzas filled with powder drugs or whitener, through another girl  to give it to Ashwini when she was in tenth standard.” “Ashwini eventually got addicted to it ,” he said and alleged despite his complaint to the then Commissioner, the police  failed to crack down the mafia which has political links.

“ After getting addicted to drugs, my daughter refused to have food at home and would demand money to eat from outside. She would go mad and hurt herself with blade if she was not given what she wanted,” he explained. “Later, she was hospitalized for six months and has now completely recovered and is pursuing her second PUC,”he informed.

“ Now, my daughter wants to fight against drug mafia and save young girls from being victimized,” he said. He further added that Sneha’s life could have been saved  had the district administration acted on his complaint then itself.

Arjun also made a serious allegation against Araf when he said “ Araf  is now  with other three young girls from a reputed college in the city. “The latter help Araf  and his two friends  to get other young girls addicted to drugs,”Arjun alleged.
