Mangaluru, June 22, 2015: Foreign currencies valued at Rs 7.54 lakhs which were found in possession of a passenger from Kasargod have been seized by the Customs officials at Mangaluru International Airport on June 21, Sunday evening.
The passenger identified as Abdul Khader from Perumbala in Kasargod was about to board an Air India Express flight to Dubai when he was arrested.
The foreign currencies seized from him included 18,250 Saudi Arabian riyals, 3650 Qatar riyals, 1,075 UAE dirhams, 860 Kuwait dinars, 735 Omani riyal, 500 US Dollars and 55 Bahrain dinars. The exact value of the foreign currencies is Rs 7,54,411.
A press communiqué from V Selvadurai, Assistant Commissioner of Customs said that the passenger did not possess valid documents for the foreign currencies in his possession.
