Mangalore, Mar 10, 2011: Jillu, who was accused of abduction and forcible conversion by Nithin Poojary, has defended himself by submitting a memorandum to Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh stating that he is innocent on March 10, Thursday.

Congress leader Mr. Ivan D’Souza, representing the Christian community in general and Jillu and his family in particular, said that the allegations against Jillu were false and demanded that the appointment of a special officer to investigate the case thoroughly and find out the truth. Mr. Singh has assured that he will take the required action at the earliest possible.

Stating that the entire incident has been blown out of proportion, Mr. D’Souza said that the story of abduction and forcible conversion attempts were concocted by Nithin who wanted to take revenge on Jillu for reprimanding him for being irregular in his work. Jillu might have summoned the boy home to reprimand him and might have even hit the boy, stated Mr. D’Souza, adding that Nithin was employed at a juice centre belonging to Jillu in Kankanady from 20 days.

Further stating that a man of Jillu’s caliber can never abduct or forcibly convert anybody, Mr. D’Souza said that most of Jillu’s friends are Hindus. Nithin’s allegations of forcible conversion are therefore untrue, he said.

Stating that Bajrang Dal activists are aiding Nithin in blowing a simple incident out of proportion, Mr. D’Souza demanded strict action to be taken against the Bajrang Dal leaders who are responsible for forcibly shutting down Jillu’s juice centre, which has resulted in a huge financial loss for Jillu.
