Mangaluru, Dec 28, 2018: City Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths have arrested three men and seized rice, pulses, powdered milk worth over Rs 10.47 lakh stocked illegally in a godown in Dambel.  The confiscated food items had been meant for beneficiaries of government sponsored midday meal scheme.

The men who were arrested included Basavaraju from Koppal, Chandrakumar from Ashoknagar and Rakshith from Chilimbi.

CCB sleuths, acting on information about suspicious movement of trucks, raided the godown of the Gurukripa Oil Mill in Dambel. The police were also accompanied by officials from the Education Department.

The police seized seven bags of milk powder, each weighing about 25 kgs, 1 quintal of pulses and 2.5 quintals of rice. The seized items were totally worth over Rs 10,47,200, sources said.  The Urwa police have registered a case and are investigating.
