Food and Civil Supplies Dept. raids illegal gas refilling unit at Attavar

Mangalore, July 8: The officials of Food and Supplies Department, under the direction of V Poonuraj, Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, has conducted a raid on an illegally running Liquefied Petroleum Gas unit at Kundaithota, Vaidyanatha Nagar in Attavar, Mangalore on Thursday, July 8 and succeeded to confiscate 27 cylinders. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It is said that the food and Supplies department officials have acted on a tip off and seized twenty seven cylinders, a scale and other related materials from the spot. The value of the seized items has been estimated at Rs 25,000.

When the officials have interrogated Lakshmana Salyan, who owns the land, said that he was unaware about the illegal activities and denied his involvement in the incident. The Shed, where the culprits used to generate LPG and transferring to commercial gas cylinders, was given to one of his friends for other purpose, he said. 

Though the officials have raided the gas filling unit on a tip off, but they failed to trace the culprits. A case has been lodged in this connection. 

Speaking after the raid, Vrishabha Rajendra Murthi, the Deputy Director of Food and Civil Supplies Department said that they have confiscated 27 cylinders including 9 Bharat Gas cylinders, 3 Konkan Gas cylinders and 15 Auto-cylinders. 

Same officials have raided an illegal Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) refilling unit at Kandathpally on April 24.
