Dhanraj of the Infrastructure Development Foundation had planned and presented the model of the proposed market complex. According to Mr. Dhanraj, the fish market, which will be shifted to the Central Market, will occupy an area of 12,000 sq. kms. The new complex will require 2 acres of land; but the fisherwomen say that they require a block 8ft in width and 15ft in length.

Half of the ground floor will be reserved for the fish market and the other half will be meant for selling vegetables. The upper floor will be for fish and meat products as well as fruits and flowers. Wholesale items will be sold on the first floor, while the top floors will be used as offices, explained Dhanraj.

Ramachandra Baikampady, the president of the Karnataka Fisheries Development Corporation, was present on the occasion.
