First Neuro link: 12 test positive for Covid-19 in Bhatkal

Bhatkal, May 8, 2020: Uttara Kannada district has  seen a spike in Covid-19 cases on a single day. As many as 12 people have been tested positive for Covid-19  taking the total cases to 24.

An 18  year old  woman from Bhatkal who contracted the infection from a contact from First Neuro Hospital in Mangaluru, has in turn led to the spread of the infection to 12 more leading to much  panic in Bhatkal. The woman   was tested positive on May 5. Presently her sister, sister’s  child, grandfather, grandmother, aunt and two friends  too are  suffering from the infection. Those infected include a five month old baby, three year old child, 11 year old girl, 83 year old man and 75 year old woman.

A Bhatkal woman had been to the First Neuro Hospital for treatment of her five year old child when her husband and 18 year old sister too had accompanied her. After they returned to Bhatkal, the 18 year old woman developed health problem and her throat swab report  which arrived on May 5 has confirmed Covid-19. Soon after, all her family members were quarantined and tested. Their reports have come out positive.

Until Thursday, Uttara Kannada district had 12 Corona positive cases of whom 11 were discharged. But now, all of a sudden the total cases have increased to 24.
