Mangaluru, Feb 10, 2017 : The fast-unto death protest  organised by the Netravathi Samrakshana Samyukta Samithi to pressurise the government to drop the controversial Yettinahole Project commenced here on February 10, Friday  with social, political and  religious leaders from different communities joining hands for the cause of  the district.

The  protest commenced with Muslim Central Committee Chief Masood garlanding the statue of  the Mahatma  in front of the Town Hall. Later, a protest march was taken out upto the DC office. A  protest meet was subsequently held near the DC office.

 Sri Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji of Moodbidri Jain Mutt, who spoke on the occasion made a vehement appeal to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to drop the project. He also expressed his happiness over the fact that people, by  setting aside all differences have joined hands for the  cause.

Sri Esha Vittadas Swamiji of Kemar Sandeepani Ashram  who also spoke  said the fight for justice will continue. He also took strong exception over the failure of the government to hear the pleas of the people of the district.

Sri Gurudevananda Swamiji of Sri Kshetra Odiyoor in his address called upon people of the entire district to join hands in the struggle against the Yettinahole project.

Sri Rajashekharananda Swamiji of Gurupur Vajradehi Mutt,   ZP Chief Meenakshi Shantigodu, former minister Krishna Palemar,  Shashiraj Kolambe, Ganesh Rao, Satyajith Suratkal and  many others were present.
