Family narrowly escaped when tree fell on the house

Mangalore, Aug 2: A family of 7 had a narrow escape when a tree uprooted and fell on their house in the wee hours of Aug 2 Tuesday. 

 

 

 

 

The members of the family sustained minor injuries, but fortunately, they all escaped alive. The damages to the house are estimated to be around Rs. 2 lakh. 

The tree that fell was a mango tree in the backyard, and the house belongs to N. Yogish Acharya. The family had been living in the tree for the past 45 years. 

The branches of the tree crashed through the tiled roof of the house, in the course of which the walls collapsed. 

During the past few days, the twin districts experienced strong winds and heavy rainfall, in the course of which crops and houses have been damaged. While low-lying areas experienced artificial flooding, streets flooded with water caused traffic problems.
