Mangalore, October 21: A Mangalore police team confiscated thousands of fake CDs during a raid conducted at CD shops near Clock Tower and Saibeen Complex in Mangalore on Oct 21, Thursday.

Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh informed reporters that over 4,000 fake CDs containing obscene matter as well as pirated Kannada, English, Hindi, Telugu, and Malayalam music as well as movie CDs have been confiscated. CDs worth Rs. 4,72,500 have been seized at Shivram Music Centre while the CDs confiscated from Satyam Cassette Shop are worth Rs. 2,43,500.


The raids were organized by police officers Sunder, Dayanand, Ravi, and Dinesh with the help of other police personnel. The team acted on information given by Mukesh Chandra Bhat, the chief executive officer of Universal Copyright Protection Organization, to Mangalore ACP Raveendra K. Gadadi.


The police have registered separate cases against Ganapathi Kini at Mangalore North Police Station and Ramanath Kini at Barke Police Station.
