Mangaluru, Oct 18, 2017: The Shree Gokarnanatha Temple at Kudroli which attracted a sea of devotees during the recent Mangalore Dasara celebrations, on October 17, Tuesday evening saw a number of enthusiasts at the Temple premises watching with awe and amaze the splendid array of colourful Goodu Deepas in varied colours and shapes that added a Sparkle to the Diwali celebrations. The event was the Goodu Deepa Pantha (Contest) the annual contest organised by Namma Kudla, the popular local TV channel.
The competition saw numerous participants display colourful “goodudeepas” or lanterns, big and small and of all possible colours, textures, materials, and even sizes. The main attraction of the competition was idol of Lord Ganesha made from the grains and pulses and a model of Ram Mandir. They were different goodudeepas made using the pieces of the PVC pipes, shells, new notes and so on.
