Empowered Women is powerful beyond measure and beautiful: Steve Maraboli

Mangaluru,Mar 9, 2017: The Empowered Women is powerful beyond measure and beautiful beyond description said Steve Maraboli.  There is no tool for development more effective than the empowerment of women.

 On the International Women’s Day on 8th March, the Human Resource Development Students of PG Department of Social Work did something new.  The team of students with the guidance of their faculty member Mrs Vidya Vinutha D’Souza reached more than 100 women in Mangalore City. The objective was to congratulate women, whose services are not otherwise appreciated by any.  With a Self-Made Greeting Card, a flower and a chocolate, the buddying HR professionals made a very special effort  to let the women know that “they are special”,  and also to let them know that “their services are appreciated” .

 

With the words of appreciation, the students were able to get a smile on the faces of women working at Petrol Stations, Traffic Police Women, Street Vendors, Fisherwomen, Petty shops, Post Office, Banks, Government Schools and also the visitors to DC office and Commissioners Office on this special day.

With this special gesture the students showed their true Aloysian Spirit by evoking hope among women in the present society which is not being very open when it comes to “women and their empowerment”.

Expressions on the faces of women and words of appreciation in turn from them along with the mixed emotions of excitement, surprise, happiness and tears were well taken by the students and helped them in knowing what people expect is “small meaningful deeds”.

Helping the needy and empowering them has been the motto of Al-Empower, HRD Forum of the Department which has also started a Soft Skill Development Programme for the marginalised Youth free of cost. Thus, empowering youth through excellence in education to shape a better future for humankind which is the vision of St Aloysius College is brought in reality by the HRD students of PG department of Social Work through different initiatives of theirs.
