Efforts on to get govt. medical college for Udupi’

Mangalore Today News Network

Udupi, May 20, 2015 : According to MLA Pramod Madhwaraj,   he was making every possible effort  to get a government medical college for the Udupi Assembly constituency rather than the postgraduate (PG) centre of Mangalore University.

Efforts on to get govt. medical college for Udupi’Speaking to media here on May 19, MLA  Madhwaraj said that a government medical college would be of more benefit to the people than a PG centre. Already 20 acres of land had been identified at Uppoor village for the medical college.  The State government may  announce government medical colleges for six districts including Udupi in the next Budget.

A Police Training Centre would also come up next to the proposed medical college at Uppoor on 14 acres of land, he said.  On the criticism by the former MLA Raghupati Bhat saying that MLA  Madhwaraj was not getting any new works for Udupi,  Madhwaraj said that Udupi Assembly Constituency had got the highest amount of funds under the Nagorathana Scheme.

He added that perhaps  Bhat is oblivious to the development activities in the Constituency. We have done more in the last two years than in the previous many years.
