Mangaluru, July 26, 2019: Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil has said that it has been decided to observe July 28, Sunday from 10 am to 11 am as Drive Day intended to completely eradicate the larvae of the Dengue spreading mosquitoes.
On this day, the public should voluntarily take steps to clean up all areas where water is stagnated and destroy the mosquito larvae.
Addressing an interaction programme organised by the DK District Working journalists Union at Press Club on July 26, Friday, he said public must assist the administration in checking the spread of dengue by keeping their houses clean.
Similar campaign will also be launched in taluk level later, he said. The DC further added that it has been found that fogging was no solution to the problem and said destroying the mosquito larvae was the only solution.
To a question the DC said an appeal would be made to the government to provide compensation to the families of those who have succumbed to Dengue.
District Health Officer Dr Ramakrishna Rao, AJ Hospital Dean Dr Ashok Hegde, DK District Working Journalists’ Union General Secretary Ibrahim Adkasthala and others were present.
