Dr M V Shetty Trust Founder, surgeon Dr M Ramgopal Shetty passes away

Mangaluru, Sep 14, 2020:    Dr M Ramgopal Shetty,  Founder of Dr. M V Shetty Memorial Trust passed away on September 14, Monday, at the age of 75. Dr Shetty is  survived by his wife Prof Hima Urmila Shetty and  two daughters.

 

Dr Shetty who had made significant contributions to the educational field in the region, was instrumental in introducing many vocational courses in nursing, physiotherapy, speech and hearing, Medical Laboratory Technology etc under Mangalore University.  Some of these courses later came under Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.

Dr Shetty had his early education at St Aloysius High School and  completed his graduation and post graduation from KMC, Mangalore. Later he  left for UK on a vascular  surgery fellowship. He had served as  Assistant Professor in Surgery at KMC till 1989.

His surgical speciality unit of Peripheral Vascular Surgery  at  Government Wenlock Hospital  brought affordable specialized surgical care to the needy in the society.

He had also served as executive member of Rehabilitation Council of India.
