Dr. M. V. Shetty Nursing College to celebrate silver jubilee

Mangalore, Oct 19, 2011: Dr. M. R. Shetty, the trustee of Dr. M. V. Shetty Memorial Trust, addressed a press conference today, during which he said that the trust was launched in memory of Dr. M. Venugopal Shetty in 1985 and that the Dr. M. V. Shetty College of Nursing, a pioneer institution of graduate nursing under the private sector in the state, was launched two years later. 

He said that the trust and the college will jointly celebrate their silver jubilee by organizing a number of educational and other programmes every month. The silver jubilee celebrations will be held on Oct 21 Friday with Dr. V. S. Acharya, the state higher education minister, as the chief guest. 

Dr. Sriprakash K. S., the vice chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in Bangalore and B. N. Muninarayanappa, the nurse registrar of Karnataka Nursing Council Bangalore, will be the guests of honor. Dr. M. Ramgopal Shetty, the secretary of the trust, will preside. 

A national conference will also be held as part of the silver jubilee celebration under the theme of evaluation as a working tool for professionalism. 

Prof. Chandrashekar Shetty, the administration officer of the college; Mrs. Kathyayini, the principal; and Vimala, the vice principal, were also present at the press conference.
