Dr. K. N. Vijayaprakash takes over as DK ZP CEO

Mangalore, Aug 2, 2011 :Dr. K. N. Vijayaprakash, the former commissioner of the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) took over as the new chief executive officer of DK Zilla Panchayat.

 

 

 

Speaking to reporters on the occasion, he stressed the need to empower villages and make them self-reliant. He also said that, owing to factors such as urbanization, migration of people from villages to cities, and so on, people in villages are poorly developed.

He also promised that he will focus on issues such as drinking water, cleanliness, roads, and rural health, with special emphasis on backward villages. He stated that his dream is to provide a people friendly administration.

Admitting that the need of the hour is to accelerate work in certain departments, he said that he will prioritize visits to rural areas. Stating that he now bears the responsibility of reaching schemes to rural areas, he promised that measures will be taken to implement all programmes effectively in the district.

Prabhakar Sharma, who is currently serving as the additional deputy commissioner of DK, will soon take over as the chief executive officer of Udupi Zilla Panchayat.

About Dr. K. N. Vijayaprakash

Dr. Vijayaprakash has a master’s degree in personnel management and industrial relationships and has obtained his doctorate from Mangalore University. He worked for five years as a lecture in Mangalore University’s department of commerce and business administration.

He joined the Karnataka Administrative Service (KAS) in 1987 – 88 and worked as the tahsildar, taluk panchayat executive officer, municipal commissioner, and personal secretary of the minister for water resources and municipal administration. He also worked as the managing director of the Karnataka State Backward Classes Development Corporation and Minorities Development Corporation, director of rural energy programme, and as the personal secretary for J. Krishna Palemar.

As the DK ZP CEO, he plans to conduct surprise raids and improve administrative efficacy. He has urged officials and people’s representatives to give him full support and cooperation.
