Mangaluru, July 28 2018: Doctors are observing a strike today opposing Centre’s moves to replace the Medical Commission of India with the National Medical Commission. The strike call has been given by the Indian Medical Association.
Despite the strike, the outpatient departments at Fr Muller Hospital, AJ Hospital, KMC and other hospitals are open and doctors are treating patients as usual. The Indian Medical Association had earlier stated that except emergency services OPD services would not be available during the strike.
Meanwhile, doctors staged a symbolic protest against the government decision at the IMA Auditorium. Later, a delegation of doctors led by IMA Mangaluru branch President Dr K Ramachandra Kamath submitted a memorandum enlisting their demands to the officials at the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
