District’s 3rd Covid-19 victim cremated at Bolur

Mangaluru, May 01, 2020:   The last rites  of the 67 year old woman from Bantwal, the third Covid-19 victim from Dakshina Kannada, were held at the Bolur electric crematorium on April 30, Thursday.  Noteworthily, Bolur area which was sealed down on  Thursday  after a woman from the area tested positive, did not see any resistance from the locals for the last rites.

There was a lot of opposition from the locals when the first Covid-19 victim also from Bantwal was cremated here a couple of weeks ago.

On Thursday the cremation of the third victim was held with full police protection in the presence of officials of the district administration.

The district administration had earlier  informed that the Bolur electric crematorium will be the official crematorium  in case the Covid-19 patients die in the district.

The last rites of the second Covid-19 victim was held at Kakkunje crematorium in Bantwal amid opposition by locals.
