Mangaluru, Oct 14, 2015 :  DK DC  Adoor .B. Ibrahim told media Oct 13, that Dakshina Kannada district administration will hold a “Janata Darshana” once a month in every taluk headquarters to speed up local administration and redress public grievances. The camps would begin with his visit to Puttur and Sullia.

District administration working to be revampedDuring a recent video conference with DCs, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had expressed displeasure with people coming to his Janata Darshana from different parts of the State seeking redressal of grievances which actually could have been addressed at taluk levels.

As such, either the DC or the Additional DC, would camp at least three hours every Thursday in a taluk office, DC Ibrahim said.

The main grouse of people has been delay in disposal of applications. The district heads would see to it that applications are disposed of in a time-bound manner. Those pending for more than a month would be disposed of on seniority basis.

The visit should also speed up the local administration as the presence of senior officials would send strong signals to officers and staff in taluk levels. This could also eliminate the presence of middlemen in different offices.

Use helpine  1077 : DK DC  Ibrahim urged the general public to call the toll-free number 1077 before visiting his office to confirm the availability of either the DC or the additional DC.  He said there were many instances of people visiting the office travelling long distances to meet the officers and returning empty-handed following the officers being busy in meetings or being out of station.

Hence, it would be better to know their availability, he said. People can also register their grievance on the toll-free number, he added.  Additional Deputy Commissioner Kumar was present.

The Dakshina Kannada district administration has got a Facebook page opened wherein a host of information about the district would be made available to the people. DC  Ibrahim said the page —www.facebook.com/dcmng — has information on the day-to-day developments in the district administration along with pictures.

Information on different meetings in the DC’s office too would be intimated for the benefit of the public, he said. Meanwhile, residents of the district may share their views and complaints on the Facebook page, which would be attended to, DC Ibrahim stated.
