Mangalore, Feb 7, 2013 : The District Administration finally seems to be determined to put an end to drug menace. Deputy Commissioner N Prakash has said that the administration is geared up to tackle the menace of drug trafficking and directed all departments concerned to initiate measures to eradicate the menace.
Presiding over a meeting of officials of the district administration and police department on February 6, Wednesday, he said anyone having any information regarding drugs trafficking can call the following numbers and that their identities will not be revealed to anyone. The numbers are 222807 and 9480802305 or 100.
The DC said a meeting of the principals of all colleges has been convened on February 8 at 12 noon to discuss the issue. He also assured that all departments including the education, health and family welfare and excise department would join hands in eradicating the menace. He also sought support of the student community and the NGOs in the endeavour.
MCC Commissioner Harish Kumar suggested entrusting the responsibility of some teachers to monitor classes as well as for counseling. The college staff and hostel staff too were asked to be alert.
Mutturaya, DCP, said senior police officials of the rank of DySP would attend meetings in educational institutions to discuss the issue.
