Dinaker Babu is Udupi ZP Chief; Sheela K Shetty is Vice President

Udupi, April 28, 2016 :   The Udupi Zilla Panchayat has a new President and Vice President. Dinaker Babu and Sheela K Shetty of the BJP were elected to the top two posts respectively on April 27, Wednesday.  The new President was elected unopposed. If the President’s post was reserved for a candidate from SC/ST community, the ZP Vice President’s post was reserved for a general category lady candidate.

Dinaker Shetty represents Udyavar constituency while Sheela represents Brahmavar. It may be recalled here that the BJP had won the Zilla Panchayat elections in Udupi by winning in 20 seats. The Congress had bagged just six seats.

Speaking to reporters later, Dinaker Babu promised to strive his level best for the progress of the rural areas. Every effort would be made to implement various government schemes, he added.

It  has  to be mentioned here that the new President of Udupi Zilla Panchayat comes from a very humble background and  has worked as a night watchman at a playground and also as a  driver for a government project director.

The ZP Vice President  is a Yakshagana artiste, poet and writer and runs the Srinidhi Yakshagana women’s troupe.

The new ZP President and Vice president were felicitated on behalf of their party at a function held at the party office. Tingale Vikramarjun Hegde, District BJP President, Capt. Ganesh Karnik, MLC and others were present.
